I there one part of the sixties was a group caled the
dowsiders which were a realy good group they got there name from the estate called downside estate. and they played in a hall at th bottom of clifton road. and there lead singer was a realy good looking guy. Plus they played some really good music I went every week well worth the money but for some reason they just vanished what a waste. regards Tony Eppy

Hi there everyone cali what a fantastic time I had there. We use to fill up at the rifleman pub at the bottom of the downs. tommy was the landlord there at the time he was a ex prof boxer. of the 60,s to 70,s
went there twice every week and only lived across the road from the cali in meadway. one show that really stood out was the (WALKER BROTHERS) BRILLIANT. also me and my friends met some beautiful young ladies there. A place very warm in my heart loved every moment we spent there.such a sad loss when it closed they are times never to be repeated again.
Fondest regards tony eppy

I was a regular at the cali from 63 to 69 . I moved from my home town of Cambridge in 62 and served my apprenticeship at instruments and movements. It was the era of mods and rockers ,the cali was definitely for us mods ,Istill miss my lambretta tv 175 reg 777RK.I used to go back to Cambridge every few weeks to see my old mates and sell them my old gear ,Cambridge always seemed to be about six weeks behind in mod fashions! very handy on apprentice wages.when I tell any of my younger friends about the bands i saw at the cali im sure they dont believe me.The Cali will always be a very fond memory for me.

Brings back the past!
I lived in Northfields and attanded Northfields Sec. Mod. in the 50s.
I did an appreticeship with Instruments & Movements - the old skating rink - 1963 - 68.
The Cali on a Friday night was a ritual.
Weekends finished off with stout & cider at the Halfway House.
Happy to from anyone who may remember me.
Still get to Dunstable to see my Mum.
Fond memories of J Milton & the Condors.

Played the Cali in the 60s, a gig we always looked forward to. Spent 7 days a week on the road but we could get home from the Cali, which was a bonus.
A very special venue with very special memories.
